TERREMOTO is an international early music orchestra that, through vibrant artistic dialogue and a shared passion for history and the arts, brings together musicians from around the world. The ensemble is composed of artists from Italy, Poland, France, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, and Mexico, among others.
The beginning of their shared journey was a series of concerts across Europe, presented as part of the Bach Academy organized by Teatro Comunale di Modena. It was there that the idea of continuing their collaboration within a newly formed ensemble — TERREMOTO — was born.
The project was initiated by Jakub Kulawik, who for many years had sought to establish an ensemble specializing in historically informed performance of early music. The realization of this vision became possible thanks to the meeting of outstanding musicians and the support of individuals and institutions committed to the development of the project.
The name TERREMOTO (Italian for “earthquake”) refers to the Baroque theory of the affections and symbolizes a powerful, energetic, and emotionally stirring phenomenon.
Naturally, the ensemble’s repertoire focuses on trumpet-and-timpani music — one of the most spectacular currents of 18th-century European music, present in the works of composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Haendel, and Georg Philipp Telemann.
TERREMOTO represents a fusion of historical awareness, international experience, and artistic energy, creating together an intense and engaging musical experience.
